Contributing editor Michael Hays joins our staff from the Pottstown Mercury, where he covered Pottstown and the Spring-Ford area. His investigative work in Limerick Township helped lead to the resignations of two township supervisors within a six month span in 2008 and 2009. Prior to joining the Mercury, he won several Associated Press awards for reporting work in Arizona, where his stories appeared in Today's News-Herald of Lake Havasu City and the Williams-Grand Canyon News. He is a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Society for Collegiate Journalists. His interests include energy, transportation issues, politics, and, of course, watchdog journalism. A 2005 graduate of Widener University and resident of Spring City, he is an avid Sixers fan and is running for a seat on Spring City Borough Council. (To reduce the possibility of a journalistic conflict of interest, Michael will not cover Spring City, Royersford, or East Vincent during his candidacy.)
