The new, 200,000 square foot Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks opened today. The otherwise successful opening was tainted by traffic woes; afternoon visitors flocking to this weekend’s gun show and train show had to cope with what KYW 1060’s traffic report called “gridlock” conditions. At one point, according to KYW’s on-air report, police closed the Oaks exit ramps from Route 422 to allow traffic on Egypt Road to dissipate.
Additional coverage of the opening is available at KYW 1060’s web site. For some background, see Peter Van Allen’s June 13, 2008 report in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
