On Monday, Dec. 7, turnover for a near majority of the Spring-Ford Area School Board will take place. Departing will be long-time board members John Grispon, Robert Weber, Michael Masciandaro, and Ammon Morgan.

Taking their place as a result of May’s primary election results will be Edward Dressler, Joe Ciresi, Clara Gudolonis, and Tom DiBello. The entire board consists of nine elected seats, representing Limerick, Royersford, Upper Providence, and Spring City.

While Masciandaro and Morgan did not run for re-election, Weber and Grispon fell in defeat to Ciresi and DiBello in the May 19 primary election.

Ciresi, a former S-F board member, lost to Mark Dehnert in 2007. DiBello is a former Limerick supervisor. The departure of Grispon, the board’s vice-president, also opens vacancies on several committees.

The agenda for Monday’s meeting (Nov. 23) includes a two-day conference in early December sponsored by the Pennsylvania School Board Association. For $1,835, the four new school board members will attend “Ready, Set, Govern! Fast Track” on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6.

Superintendent Marsha Hurda said in an e-mail that the amount does not include a hotel stay, but does include her admission.

The Monday board agenda also includes requested board approval for several new courses: Advanced Placement English Language & Composition (11-12th grades); AP Music Theory (11-12th grades); AP Studio Art (11-12th grades); Finance (10-12th grades); and Academic Support 12 (for seniors who were not “proficient” in their 11th grade PSSA reading and math exams).

According to the agenda, a course entitled Music Fundamentals would be deleted.

Both meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
