About 20 workers at Exelon Nuclear’s Three Mile Island plant were exposed to a small amount of radiation during a Saturday event.

According to a story in the The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the incident posed “no effect on public health or safety.”

The radiation amounted to less than 1 percent of allowable exposure for workers under NRC guidelines, spokeswoman  Diane Screnci told the paper.

Three Mile Island, located near Harrisburg, was the site of an infamous, non-fatal accident in 1979.

When are we gonna learn in this country that nuclear power is NOT the way. Too much risk and horrible radioactive byproduct/waste left.

Why aren’t we pushing for more solar and wind electric generating sources. We need to stay away from nuclear, as well as the standard fossil fuels.
