Breaking News, Weather

Royersford weather guru Tom Thunstrom, who blogs his regional forecasts over at Phillyweather.net, advises What’s the 422? that today’s winter storm is likely to drop between 9 and 15 inches of snow on the Spring-Ford area.

“Higher amounts north and west” is what we usually hear from Philly TV meteorologists when snow comes to town, but not this time: Tom is calling for 14 to 22 inches in Philadelphia, with a few areas south of the city receiving even more.

Meanwhile, points north, such as the Lehigh Valley, may receive as little as 6 inches thanks to a dry air mass that’s slowing the advance of the storm system.

Snow is likely to intensify through the afternoon and into the evening.

Update: Tom is also providing great updates on his Twitter feed.

Tom does a great job at phillyweather.net. I enjoy his take on the different models – it’s more information than the broadcasters will give you.
